City in the Sea

  1. CITY IN THE SEA - A computer painting on a 16 x 20 size canvas board.

This computer designed vertical picture is a re-arrangement of an original horizontal acrylic painting that I did some time ago in my spare time.

You ask why I bothered to do this alteration, what is the point?

Normally, when I do a spare time painting I design it so that it has the possibility of being used as a cover for a book or magazine, but this time I just plain forgot about that and painted the fortress on the left side of the horizontal canvas, and put the girl on horseback on the right side. Which means that as a wraparound cover picture, the girl on horseback would be on the front cover looking at an empty sky and sea-line. The fortress would appear on the back cover of the book or magazine.

So when the time came to put the picture on my website I saw that my layout was not appropriate for a cover and decided to use my computer to make it a vertical layout that would make more sense as a front cover illustration. To do that I moved the girl on horseback to the left side, under the fortress and eliminated the right side of the original painting.

That's why I bothered to make the change. And now, who knows, someday it may show up on the front cover of a book or magazine.
